Regularity in Sobolev Spaces of Steady Flows of Fluids with Shear-Dependent Viscosity
The system −divS(D(u)) + (u · ∇)u +∇π = f , divu = 0, is considered on a bounded three-dimensional domain under no–stick boundary value conditions, where S has p-structure for some p < 2 and D(u) is the symmetrized gradient of u. Various regularity results for the velocity u and the pressure π in fractional order Sobolev and Nikolskii spaces are obtained.

متن کاملTransient shear banding in time-dependent fluids.
We study the dynamics of shear-band formation and evolution using a simple rheological model. The description couples the local structure and viscosity to the applied shear stress. We consider in detail the Couette geometry, where the model is solved iteratively with the Navier-Stokes equation to obtain the time evolution of the local velocity and viscosity fields. It is found that the underlyi...

and Applied Analysis 3 a bounded domain of R3. Indeed, the analysis of our situation is still more difficult. The difficulties arise from the lack of smoothness of the weak solution. To overcome this difficulty a penalization argument is needed. This argument generalizes the penalization method given in 10 , for the Navier-Stokes equations, to this case of micropolar fluids. In fact, if we take...

We prove long{time existence for a weak solution s(t; x) 0 of the lubrication approximation @ t s + @ x (s @ 3 x s) = 0 in fs > 0g with prescribed contact angle of, say, 4 (@ x s) 2 = 1 on @fs > 0g :
